The food was delicious. Cousins got reacquainted. Dad was of course the oldest and the youngest was 2 months old. Mom and Dad will be celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks. They still living independently in their own condo in Kelowna. .... Greetings to former classmates that make it to the reunion. Gisele

I know it will be another great event and my thanks to all of you for the organization and the effort you extend to all of us. Hope your summer is a good one.

Gloria (Hinds) Turner Hi, Dave. I have submitted an online registration to Beyond theRoad for myself. As an after thought, decided I will increase it to 2 people and bring a friend from Victoria. Thanks for the work you and the organizing committee have done to keep this tradition going. Despite the drop in numbers, it's amazing that there is still a core group that's interested in renewing old acquaintances!
...earlier ....
Thanks for the info – a lot of work to keep this up to date! I expect to attend and would be interested in all events EXCEPT golf and garden tour. I am especially interested in the Desolation Sound excursion from Lund (depending on cost). I am fortunate that my younger sister Hazel Richman still lives in Powell River so I always have somewhere FREE to stay. Hope things are well with you, Linda and the rest of your family.  ,,,, A couple of ideas for the organizing committee to consider (1) could family members who grew up in Powell River be invited on the Desolation Sound trip (the time we went up Princess Louise Inlet my younger (by 2 yrs.) brother Martin and his wife came along). (2) is there any chance that our grad picture could be enlarged to be hung on a wall at one of the venues? It would be fun to see how many people we could identify – maybe some kind of contest?) I have to confess that the only people I really know are the ones who attended Brooks, before we moved to Max Cameron.  Greetings from Victoria,

Norm and Shirley Behan   I'm sorry... Must have had a seniors moment.... I thought that I had responded earlier to let you know we would be coming to the reunion this summer..:-? Anyway, we wanted to confirm that we would love to attend this event, and I will send you out the registration via mail this week. We would probably stay at the Town Centre, and plan to attend all three main events. I was just over to the PR Chorus's 60th anniversary event last week, and saw a few of the crew there... Awesome!   Thanks for all the work organizing this..... or we had a senior moment at this end and lost your email... davef

Rina and Don Villani Thank you for the invitation to the class reunion . Due to poor health Don and I cannot make it. Please thank all the people for working so hard to put on this reunion every five years ..a huge thank you to all.......have fun....

Sharon (Bayer) & Brian Warner I do not think we will be able to make the reunion. Will be able to tell better in about 3-4 weeks. Many thanks to you all for your organization . Warmest regards,

Diana Coles.  I am sending my regrets. I will be unable to attend, due to family commitments. Thanks for the pictures of the last reunion. Every one looks to be in good spirits. Please pass along my thanks to the hard working crew, who put this together, every five years. My best wishes to all and have a great time at the 55th! Where has the time gone? I look forward to receiving future updates.

Gaile (Lapp-McQ) & Jim Rudisill  hi Class of 60 As I sit here in sling and lots of therapy ahead I must let you know that is no longer a maybe. So sorry as all your plans sound like great fun. Cheers!
.... previously ....
You are doing it again! Amazing. I was looking forward to coming but was told this past week that I need total shoulder replacement surgery. I would like to be on the "maybe" list since it would only be two months. I will be in touch closer to that time. Many thanks for all that you and the committee do for the class of 1960. Cheers -

Connie Stewart (Dalzell) I regret I will be unable to attend the Class of 60 Reunion. I will be away at that time. Thank you for contacting me.

Tom and Frances Preiss Thanks for asking. For health reasons, neither my wife or myself will be able to attend the 55th reunion. Hope you all have a lot of fun.

Bernice Muir  I regret that I will not be able to go on the cruise and will not be able to attend the reunion.  It sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

Barb ( McNolty ) & Les Larkin  We will not be able to attend because we are on a X Canada to Newfoundland, currently in Ontario.

Carole and Dave Stevenson Thanks for the emails re the reunion. We will be unable to attend. Have an enjoyable time.
Do you know if the class of 1961 is having anything next year? Thanks

Fred & Delores Pfister Sorry for being so pokey about responding –guess the comes with Maturity doesn’t it?
Fred & I would probably only attend the Street Party—and I expect to be down there as well with Paddling For Life.
Lund cruise sounds interesting but parking out there is such a disaster—but if we could be kept ‘in the loop’ it would be appreciated.
As well, Thank you for all the work you do in organizing this—Smile

Put Frank and Lia Verkerk down as a maybe. thanks

George & Shirley McCullough We would love to be there but the timing for us makes it out of the question.
Have a great time. We hope to be there next time if there is one. Wish all the best.

Tina (nee: McIntyre) Hanlon I will not be able to attend the grad reunion this year. Mike is using oxygen at home 24/7 and just not
able to travel any longer. Even local trips are exhausting him these days and although we were hoping
that things would improve they do not seem to be. Best wishes to all those who are able to attend.
God Bless and big hugs.

Ron & Carolyn Crotogino  Thanks for sending this notice. At this point, I cannot commit to those dates, as there are a number of travel plans to different part of the world in the making ....I am still trying hard to retire from my job with the ArboraNano network. I’ll do my best to try to join you for the reunion. Best regards

Ede and Marv Yaroshuk Hi - ...We're interested in the BBQ at Kent's Beach, the Blackberry Festival street party & after party, possibly the dinner at a
restaurant. Looking forward to seeing everyone. .. Marv would like to golf... He hardly ever goes now, usually when Bud's in
town. I sent Philina an email, hoping she'd be interested but haven't heard a word.

Pete Donkersley Hi people, would love to attend but I have a kayak trip to the Central Coast reigon and the dates clash so I will have to
decline at this time, hope you all have a great time and maby I can do the next time

Barb and Bob Simmonds Hi Dave, just to say thanks for the e-mail, will pass it on to Louise Poole but not sure if they are traveling any more. Sounds like fun Bob and I both will attend all events and will commit to the Desolation Sound trip for sure please let me know where to pay , thanks

Lucille (Gustafson) Barfield  Very exciting to get your email about another grad reunion. I've attached a write-up and some photos for the website , if you consider them good enough to use. (yes - click here!) ciao Louise Barfield... Since our 2010 reunion I’ve kept pretty busy:
I did a Panama Canal cruise in the Fall of 2010, then in 2011 did a France/Switzerland ski trip with the Victoria ski club and a fabulous Peru trip in the fall which included a jungle stay, a home-stay in a native village on Lake Titicaca, Machu Picchu, and Galapagos Islands.
February 2012 I spent 2 weeks in Mexico with Gary Mavis – we connected after the last reunion! In the Fall I did a 20-day Mediterranean cruise with a girlfriend, starting off with a week in Venice.
In May 2013 Gary and I flew to Scotland to see my kid sister and visit my uncle’s grave in the WW II veterans’ cemetery in France. In early spring 2014 we drove down to Arizona to visit same kid sister at their winter home; we returned via Grand, Zion and Bryce Canyons, getting hit with a big April snowstorm at Bryce! I did an Alaska cruise in May – loved the awesome glaciers. We celebrated Hallowe’en with a “Ghost Tales” tour at Fort Langley, where the Parks guide tells the story of the demise of Gary’s great grandparents. The town’s main street is “Mavis Street”.
The Capital Regional District in Victoria keep after me to work when they get in a bind, and I’m still very involved with my Red Hat chapter. I attended a “Funvention” in Seattle and another one in Edmonton earlier this year. We did another risqué Red Hat calendar, donating the $4,000 proceeds to the Sooke Seniors. My biggest Grandma-brag is 15-year old Tyler, who according to the recent write-ups in the Victoria Times Colonist is a possible pro baseball prospect. I’ve travelled with the family to his games in Centralia WA, Phoenix AZ and California.
I still do lots of downhill skiing, and even got Gary skiing at age 70. I now qualify for the Whistler “Senior’s Seasons Pass” and can’t wait for the “Super Senior’s”!

Alan Statham I will be attending with my friend Mary Lou Lexier.   We will attend all three events.
We are interested in the cruise to Desolation Sound.   Thanks to the Committee for organizing the reunion.  Cheers,

Barb & Wayne Langdale. We will likely attend Dinner, Street party & Lund Cruise. Will be out of town on the Thursday, sorry to miss that event.Take Care,

Wanda Cook I think George and I will probably not be attending. We are hoping on a long RV trip mid August through September. Will let you know if there is any change.

Gary Mavis  thanks again for pulling this motley crew together for the 55th. We will be there for all the festivities and I will sign up for the golf if that is going ahead. Anything our crew can do here to help? Cheers.

Georgina ( Mattick ) & Gord McCubbing  Looking forward to attending the reunion. The picnic sounds great and we would be interested in attending the desolation cruise and or the dinner at the Laughing Oyster.
Thanks so much to everyone that works so hard to make the reunions such a memorable event.

Committee note: we looked hard at making the Laughing Oyster the restaurant Saturday, but transportation complications and the ability to change the numbers attending easily turned us away and back to town

Vicki Drader  I won’t be attending the PR Reunion…. But thanks for inviting. Best wishes to all 1960ers.

Sandi & Glen Wideman Hi all! I’m sorry to say that we will be unable to make the forthcoming reunion this year. Unfortunately, Glen will be tied up with a court case that has been 2 years in the making. Will be SO happy when it’s over! So with that said, I hope there will be lots of fun and pictures forthcoming. We’ll be thinking of you. Hugs,

Cody Windsor Hi  I would love to go however I have Alsheimers Disease and have quite a difficult time remembering things and people. I do wish everyone a wonderful time though.

Deanna Anderson Hi   : glad to hear another reunion! Yes I will attend all 3. Email and phone are correct. Please let me know if there is anyway I can help. I will probably come up to P R. a few days earlier. CHEERS!

Jan ( Clark ) & Clare Lyall  Sounds like fun but our son will be in Calgary from his home in Tokyo at that time so I will not be able to be in PR. Have fun.

Dave & Linda Florence Personal update from me: My main hobby these days is the Forestry Heritage Society and our miniature train, as seen on the website    As i read the emails, i note that quite a few of our class have health problems in the family, either self or partner which are in some cases preventing attendance. In my case spouse Linda has contracted a Parkinson spinoff called PSP which limits mobility and brings many dementia-like symptoms. But her spirits are high, and we look forward to attending all events. We continue to fly to Ontario to visit family, and plan to take the RV back to Arizona this winter.   cheers, davef

From the committee: Some people have lost interest in the Class of 60 program for all sorts of valid reasons: health, travel distance, changing interests, wrong class (got on the list for the Princess Louisa visit only) etc. If being on the list is no longer of interest to you, please let us know and we'll delete your name/email address. Had some embarrassing errors in the data base - Tom Oldale's passing last December was missed, as was Bud Smilths wife Sandy, who passed in 2001. Please accept our apologies.
